If you have spent any time around the Piper Glen pool, the tennis courts or the neighborhood events, chances are you have crossed paths with the Medicas.

Blake and Anna Medica and their daughter have called Piper Glen home for nine years, and they have loved every minute of it. The household is rounded out by Buttercup, a very fluffy Ragdoll cat who enjoys being the center of attention.

Their story started long before Charlotte. Both went to Florida State University, and they met while studying abroad in London the summer before their senior year. Anna grew up in a small town in North Florida. Blake is a Charlotte native. After college the two made Charlotte home and have not looked back.

Everywhere, and taco night

The Medicas like doing things together: traveling, the beach, family walks and cozy movie nights. On his own, Blake enjoys running, swimming, exotic cars and following sports. Anna loves Pilates, tennis, mahjong and getting lost in a good book. Their daughter dances, swims, plays tennis and performs in theater.

When it comes to travel, the Medicas believe the best destination is simply "everywhere!" One favorite was a family trip to Paris, where they took a sunset river cruise and watched the Eiffel Tower begin to sparkle just as they floated by. More recently, Blake and Anna took a spring getaway to Playa del Carmen in Mexico.

Close to home, their favorite restaurants include Yama, Ilios Crafted Greek and Little Mama's, though it is hard to beat a taco bar night at home. On game day they are rooting for Florida State, the Hornets and the Panthers.

Giving back

Anna and her daughter volunteer with Baby Bundles, a local nonprofit that gives bags of essentials to mothers of newborns in need. Anna is also a member of the Fifty Fabulous Women Giving Circle, which supports projects that promote the well-being of Charlotte-area women and children.

The best part

The family loves the neighborhood traditions, especially Santa Brunch, the Fourth of July pool party and the Daddy & Daughter Dance. But ask what they love most about living here, and the answer is easy: the people.

"We've made so many wonderful friends here," they say. They also like being close to everything south Charlotte has to offer.

Their favorite neighborhood memory? Watching all the kids come together each Halloween for trick-or-treating, the kind of tradition that captures what makes Piper Glen feel like home.

This story appears in the July 2026 issue of Stroll Piper Glen.
